I'm as proud to receive this award as I am to be a student.
This award isn't about raw ability - indeed there are many who can kick higher, punch harder and demonstrate cleaner and sharper techniques than me - rather it's about who best demonstrated the five tenets of Tae Kwon-Do through the year, those tenets being Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable Spirit.
In the spirit of integrity, I can't deny I was secretly hoping I would earn the award this year, as much as I try to let go of expectation in my day to day life. Even so, I am very pleased to have received it.
